About the Author

         Danah Boyd is a very influential individual in regards to social media. Her life is constantly surrounded by technology. Boyd is a Principal Researcher at Microsoft Research, Research Assistant Professor at New York University, and Fellow at Harvard University’s Berkman Center for Internet and Society. She mainly focuses on the youth generation within our society and how they are using new technology to build relationships and interact with one another. With this idea in mind, Boyd published “It’s Complicated” in 2014 in order to exemplify how teens’ interact through the newest social media sites such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Boyd offers insights in her novel about living a life in the networked era where everything nowadays is done through the computer and social media sites in order to build virtual communities.
